Need Food Information? Try QR Code!
Need Food Information? Try QR Code!
Have u ever think
about the legality of your food: Does it have a real twelve-registered number
from B-POM? Does it have a real Halal
Certificate from LPPOM-MUI, and is it still valid? Do you understand what's printed on its
wrapper in 'ingredients' section (about the regulation of the additives or
current issue)?
If there is a new
realease food product, some people aint used to check its BPOM registered
number or its Halal certificate number before buying that product. Or, at least
checking the ingredients; is there any ingridients that we don’t want to eat? Whereas, those all are pertinent with consumers' health. But, do we care?
Yeah, it seems so
difficult checking the registered number from B-POM of one product that we want
to eat. Do we have to type it in google's search box and browse it one by one?
I think it's quite not effective way. As our every second is so worth, this type
of job is just like wasting time. Isnt there any smart way to do it?
QR Code!
Quick Response
Code. This is a type of matrix barcode which consist of black modules arranged
in a square pattern on a white background. What's the
difference of QR code and bar code? Bar code
is linear one-dimensional codes and can only hold up to 20 numerical digits,
whereas QR codes are two-dimensional (2D) matrix barcodes that can hold thousands of alphanumeric characters of information. To read the QR
code, a camera phone with qr-reader installed in it is needed. Qr-reader
software can be downloaded from i-nigma.
QR is a registered trademark of Denso Wave, a subsidiary of Toyota, in 1994 to track vehicles during the manufacturing process.
Denso Wave has elected not to exercise their patent
rights of QR codes and that has encouraged their widespread use.
How
to make your own QR code?
It's simple. Try
to generate your own code at qrcode.kaywa.com, or qrstuff.com.
Back to the
dream: QR code for food products identification. For this purpose, the QR Code on the food package will contain the url of pages that will explain all that consumers have to know. It must be fun and useful tools. Moreover, this is an
interesting way to educate Indonesian people to be aware of what they eat, as
not every food factory is qualified. Nowadays, people in Indonesia has been so
familiar with camera phone and internet, so hopefully it can be easily used by users.
First thing that
have to be prepared is the database of food products in BPOM and LPPOM MUI (as
a Halal auditor in Indonesia), and the description or issues of every single ingridient
which is permitted in Indonesia. Hewhew. Yes, this way is the beginning of make
the dream comes true. That's just my opinion, anyway.
